How do we price our blasting?
Pricing for most smaller projects is $50.00 labor. Customized pricing available for
multiple items. An abrasive media charge is then added on at the rate of $40.00
Per full bag used or down to 1/4 bag usage. Commonly one to four bags are
required for these types of projects. Media usage depends on a few factors and
will vary, even with what appear to be similar items. These factors include- The
shape, as in are there many angles to hit rather than large flat surfaces, concave
areas where media deflects back at the operator lowering visibility, coatings being
removed , and if there is deep rust pitting all contribute to the amount of time and
therefore media needed. Other factors include how clean a job you require. You
may only want rust and loose coatings removed so that a protective paint may be
applied or you may be looking for a clean final appearance. If you are going to
have an item powder coated then it is important to remove as close to 100% of the
existing coatings around welds and in small crevices so they will not burn in the
heat related process.
